COUNSELLING AND COACHING FOR ADULTS AND TEENS

Let's work together

working with me

Counselling Your Way

I work collaboratively using various counselling techniques so that you get the most out of our time together towards healing and reaching your goals. It is a profound privilege to work with people in this way.

I welcome people of any culture, religion, ability, sexuality, and gender.

Our conversations and work together will allow you to explore the issue troubling you and discuss how you want things to be different.

Together, we will work towards gaining clarity and insight into your thoughts and feelings, identifying, and working with negative patterns and beliefs that limit you.

The issues you bring may be relatively straightforward or complex short or long-term.

What You Can Expect

Seeking counselling can be a difficult and sometimes scary decision. I will provide a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and emotions, which might include a belly laugh or two. We will check in to ensure we stay on track and move closer to your desired outcomes.

If we feel it is valid, I may send a summary of crucial conversations via email to serve as a reminder from time to time or links to resources at no extra cost.

as a result of us working together:

I hope you feel deeply heard, energised, and empowered with new insights, understandings and strategies. I hope you feel and think 'bigger' with the ability to choose what action to take and have the resources to do that.

WHEN WE MEET FOR THE FIRST TIME

Your First Appointment

Before your first appointment, I will send you everything you need to know to find me with ease. The counselling space is peaceful and surrounded by beautiful walks.

At our first appointment, we will explore what brings you to counselling, what you would like to be different, and start working towards that.

FAQs

This is entirely up to you. Everybody is different and we will evaluate our progress at each meeting and discuss the way forward. Quite often, weekly sessions work well initially and then we can move spaced apart. Typically, people may come for six sessions, but also some people just need a couple of sessions, and they’re on their way. Others may want to delve more deeply and have more sessions.

You don’t need a referral to see me. Unfortunately, you cannot claim counselling sessions through Medicare. However, my fees are similar to the out-pocket fees you would expect to pay when seeing a psychologist after the Medicare rebate.

Please contact me to arrange an informal chat by phone and we can arrange an appointment then.

what to expect WHEN

Working with Me

Feeling safe and comfortable is essential to our work together, especially if past hurt or trauma brings you to see me.

I am always curious to learn about you, how you experience the world and your unique strengths and skills. Curiosity helps me not to make assumptions.

As Brene Brown says beautifully, “Connection is why we’re here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives”.

You are the expert on yourself. You are not the problem; the problem is the problem, and we can work together on it.

I combine coaching and counselling approaches in creative ways to suit you.

I’ve found that self-compassion is integral to balancing out the solid negative bias are brains are wired for.
